Incorporated in 2006, Allegheny Environmental Services, Inc. (AESI) is a woman-owned environmental consulting company based in southwestern Pennsylvania. The company was originally founded by Edie Tamburro, a professional geologist and former owner/partner of Chapman & Lewis Environmental Services, Inc. (CLES) in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. Ms. Tamburro left CLES to provide focused expertise in environmental hydrogeology to her clients in the railway industry, chemical manufacturing industry, oil refining industry and coal mining operations industry. In 2010, the company was expanded through the addition of Karen Souza as a partner in the firm. Ms. Souza, a licensed professional geologist, formerly worked as a senior consultant/risk assessor for Applied Geology & Environmental Science, Inc. and Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. Ms. Souza joined AESI to augment the consulting practice through her expertise in management consulting services (for a Fortune 100 company), hydrogeological site investigations, modeling and data analysis, human health risk assessments and vapor intrusion assessments. Both Ms. Tamburro and Ms. Souza each have more than 30 years of environmental consulting experience.
