Balter Company (Balter) is a specialty consulting firm providing in-house Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Engineering, Special Inspections, Construction QA/QC Inspection and Testing, Materials Laboratory Testing and Subsurface Explorations. Through two generations of service, Balter has developed a solid reputation as one of the most experienced specialty engineering firms. This experience and diversity helps us to solve even the most unusual problems with technically excellent and cost-effective solutions for our clients. It is a major factor in our long-standing tradition of excellence, which has resulted in numerous engineering awards for our Company. Balter’s personnel hold Professional Engineering and Professional Geology licenses as well as advanced certifications including CQM-certifications (USACE & NAVFAC), NICET, ACI, FHWA, DOT, FAA, AHERA, ERLPM, WACEL, NASSCO and other nationally recognized agencies. All procedures are performed in accordance with a Quality Management System (QMS) Manual approved by accrediting agencies. Unparalleled Laboratory Capabilities… Balter’s accredited laboratory includes a wide array of conventional and sophisticated machines to offer materials testing on soils, concrete, rock, aggregates, asphalt, masonry, fireproofing and other specialized tests, with data and results electronically integrated with our computer network. Our laboratory includes fully automated and computerized equipment that is otherwise available chiefly in research or government institutions. Balter has achieved one of the highest levels of accreditation in the Mid-Atlantic. This includes nine (9) agency accreditations; 92 individual ASTM & AASHTO test procedures; and 53 USACE test procedure validations. Quality Management System (QMS)… Adherence to proper QA/QC protocol is of utmost importance among project management tasks. Balter has developed an In-house Quality Management System (QMS) that enforces a high level of proficiency and quality control oversight which ensures timely and efficient completion of all tasks and subtasks. Our QMS Manual stresses the importance of proper review, supervision, training and accreditation for the engineering, laboratory testing and construction inspection services that we offer. Drilling Capabilities… Balter owns truck-mounted and all terrain rigs to support subsurface explorations in all conditions. Drill rigs are equipped with calibrated automatic hammers and wireline assembly to ensure consistency and high quality results for all soil and rock work. Our drillers are licensed geotechnical Master Well Drillers and are OSHA-H&S certified. Balter is experienced with land and water borings, oriented coring, deep rock coring, piezometers, monitoring wells, inclinometers and environmental sampling and screening.
